The Course Presents a Wide Variety of Classical Texts Constituting The Western Tradition of Learning, Beginning With Classical Antiquity And Progressing Through The Renaissance. These Texts Are Drawn From Various Fields and Genres, Including History, Philosophy, Autobiography, and Epistolary Non-fiction. The Course Will Emphasize Close Reading, Critical Analysis, and Understanding of Each Text's Historical Background. The Course Will Deepen Our Understanding Of The Main Lines of Thought That Have Shaped The Western Tradition And Consider Them in Relation to Changing Social, Economic, and Political Circumstances and Institutions. The Course Considers How These Works Have Influenced and Shaped Our Present, While It Also Emphasizes The Importance of Situating Them in Their Historical Context._ Learning Outcomes# at The End of The Course The Students Will Be Able To# 1. Develop The Skills of Careful Reading of Classic Texts# to Become Familiar With Classic Texts in History, Philosophy, and Autobiography That Shaped The Western Tradition. 2. Appreciate Classical Texts and Learn to Analyze Them Critically In The Future - to Cultivate an Appreciation of The Body of Literature That Is Considered (rightly Or Wrongly) Central and Formative For The Humanist Education in Europe and in The Parts of The World That Were Under European Influence. 3.
