The Course Will Survey Major Conceptions of Pain As an Example Of Mind-body Conceptualizations From Ancient Greece to Our Day. We Will Present Central Mind-body Conceptions of Influential Philosophers And Physicians From Antiquity to Our Day and Will Pay Particular Attention to The Way Pain Is Understood Within These Frameworks. Learning Outcomes# Students Will Become Familiar With The Major Conceptions of Pain Against The Context of Mind-body Relations. - Students Will Become Familiar With The Historical Development Of This Question As It Was Conceived By Philosophers and Physicians. - Through The Historical Survey, Stuents Will Gain a Quick Introduction to Philosophy and Its History. - Students Will Become Familiar With Contemporary Approaches to Mind- Body Relations and The Role Pain Has Within Them. - Students Will Gain Insight Into The Complicated Relations Between Medicine and Philosophy.
