Basic Information
During The Course We Will Discuss The Following Questions# What Is A Computer, Really, What Is The Internet, How Far Back in History Can We Find The Antecedents of The Technologies We Take For Granted Today, What Are The Philosophical Commitments That Led to The Development Of These Technologies, and What Can We Learn From The Long History And History and Philosophy of Computing About The Ethical and Political Challenges Our New Technological Reality Presents Us With Toda, In This Course, We Will Study Both Key Historical Texts (from Leibniz, Pascal, Babbage, Lovelace, Turing and Others), As Well As Contemporary Scholarly Literature On The Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, Aiethics and Related Topics. Learning Ouctomes# At The End of The Coure The Students# 1. Will Learn About The History of Computing and Information Theory, Including Biologoical and Technological Antecedents of The Internet. 2. Will Become Familiar With Texts of Foundational Figures in It, Such As Leibniz, Pascal, Babbage, Lovelace and Turing. 3. We Learn On The Impact The History of The Internet Has On Its Current Concerns and Dilemmas.
