הקורס יעסוק בסקירת הטבלה המחזורית. נדגים את המחזוריות והשוני בהתנהגות של חומרים אי אורגניים ע"י תיאוריות מדעיות שונות ובעזרתן נקשר בין מבנה החומרים לבין תכונותיהם. ידע זה מקנה בסיס להבנה של תחומים מדעיים שונים כגון ביוכימיה, כימיה אורגנית, מדעי הסביבה והנדסת חומרים.
